Wool clothing is the ideal companion for your baby or child, even in summer. You can find out why in this article.
The properties of wool
Wool clothing has countless wonderful properties:
It is breathable, temperature regulating, antibacterial, dirt-repellent, water-repellent and wrinkle-free.
At the same time, wool can absorb and wick away a lot of moisture (e.g. sweat).
This makes wool the ideal material for all year round – including summer.
Particularly light virgin wool or merino wool is very comfortable and rather cool on the skin, so that wool clothing can be worn even in warm temperatures.
Sweat can be absorbed well. In contrast to textiles made of synthetic fibers (polyester), wool is very breathable and regulates the body's temperature perfectly at all times.
Sun protection factor of wool clothing
In addition, wool has the highest sun protection factor of all natural fibers and is therefore ideal for protecting sensitive children's skin from the sun.
Depending on the color (dark clothing absorbs more light) and the density of the wool material, wool clothing has a sun protection factor of up to 50.
This is why wool clothing is ideal for supporting you in summer.
Of course, you should still make sure you have enough shade and use sunscreen.
In the graphic you can see the sun protection factor of the different textiles.
Only UV clothing made of synthetic fibers has a higher SPF than wool.
Wool clothes for babies in summer
Newborns in particular cannot yet regulate their body temperature themselves.
Clothing made of wool, such as a hat made of light wool or a romper sack, can help babies.
Jawoll Baby has something very special for baby carriers: cuffs made of thin wool that provide additional protection from the sun when in the carrier and replace trousers.
Wool clothing for children in summer
Splashing, swimming, playing in the sand – good sun protection is important for small and large summer adventures.
At Jawoll Baby you will find summer clothes made from light upcycled wool, such as shorts or knickerbockers.
The sun hats protect the face, neck and throat from the sun with their wide brim.
Short and long-sleeved shirts provide protection on top.
Upcycling wool clothing from Jawoll Baby
For summer clothing, Jawoll Baby uses particularly light wool material made from virgin wool or merino wool, all made from damaged wool sweaters.
Upcycling reuses valuable resources, which is good for the environment and for animals.
